Policies & Rates

Medfield Makes Music provides weekly private lessons in piano, guitar, electric bass, voice, violin, viola, and cello. We take pride in using teaching methods which are very flexible, adjusting to the unique needs and interests of each student. All our teachers meet our high standards both as performers and as teachers, and are committed to giving well rounded instruction to each student.

Enrollment:

  • MMM has rolling admissions for new students depending on teacher availability.
  • MMM maintains a chronological Waiting List when all lesson times are filled.
  • Prospective students may take one lesson before committing to our policy.
  • Once a time slot is agreed on, the following session rates and cancellation policies apply.
Scheduling:
  • Students must commit to weekly lessons at a specific time; the cost of lessons pays for a weekly time slot in the teacher's schedule, not the actual lesson.
  • Requests to reschedule a lesson must be made at lest one week prior.
  • Requests for an ongoing/permanent change to the schedule must be made a at least a month prior.
  • We cannot guarantee that requests to reschedule lessons or change your ongoing time slot can be honored. In the case that we cannot honor a request, our cancellation policy will apply.
Payment Schedule:
Payment is due at the first scheduled lesson of each two month period listed below:
Jan/Feb., March/April, May/June, July/Aug., Sept./Oct., Nov./Dec.

Rates:
30 minute lesson $28
45 minute lesson $38
60 minute lesson $48

Holding fee for July/Aug. $160 (see vacation policy for more details)
Bounced check fee: $10
Late Payment fee: $10 per two month period

Each additional lesson per household per week is discounted $3. For instance, a household enrolled in two 30 min. lessons per week would pay $28+$25 .

Cancellation Policy:
  • No refunds will be given for late cancellations (under 24 hr. notice), repeated cancellations (more than one per semester), or any forgotten or missed lessons.
  • Students will automatically be scheduled for the upcoming two month period unless we are otherwise notified. One month's notice in writing or by e-mail is required to discontinue lessons for the upcoming semester.
  • There will be no charge for any lessons your teacher cancels and cannot reschedule. We will gladly refund, or apply the amount towards your next bill.
  • Each teacher reserves the right to hire a quality substitute teacher to cover lessons when conflicts with lessons are anticipated.
Holidays / Snow Days / Vacations:
  • There will be no charge for missed lessons during a declared snow emergency. Public school closings do not effect MMM's decision to close. When in doubt, call Lori's cell phone (not the studio phone) to confirm the status of lessons. 508-932-5953
  • Lessons canceled on the following holidays will not be charged for: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor day, Thanksgiving Day. Students celebrating Passover, Easter, Rosh Hashanah, and Christmas Eve and Day may also cancel lessons on those days without charge. Teachers must be notified at least 24 hr. in advance.
  • MMM is not connected to any of the local school calendars and doesn't follow an of their various vacation schedules.
  • To help accommodate increased vacationing needs during the July/Aug. period, MMM will accept a reduced rate for canceled lessons for students who wish to maintain ownership of their time slot.

  • 30 minute lesson - $20
    45 minute lesson - $30
    60 minute lesson - $40

For example: A student who wishes to take no lessons in July/Aug. but would like to ensure that their slot will be there for them in September would pay 8X20 rather than 8X28. A student taking 4 lessons would pay 4X28 plus 4X20 rather than 8X28. Both examples include the one allowed cancellation per two month period.
  • Students who discontinue lessons for July/Aug. and choose not to hold their spot will be put on a waiting list to start the first week of the Sept./Oct. two month period in order of date of initial enrollment.
  • Family discounts do not apply to summer discounted holding fees.
